Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Amirali is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Neurosurgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. His medical background includes an MD from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran.
His current research focuses on pre-surgical mapping techniques for tumors situated near critical language and motor areas of the brain. He is also engaged in projects aimed at developing affordable neuronavigation solutions for implementation in resource-constrained settings. Another key area of his work involves investigating intraoperative Ultrasound (IUS) models informed by intraoperative MRI findings. This research seeks to extend the utility of IUS in intraoperative guidance, particularly in environments where intraoperative MRI is not accessible. Ultimately, Amirali is interested in exploring the potential for integrating Augmented Reality and neuronavigation systems in cranial procedures. His goal is to understand how the complementary strengths of these technologies can be leveraged to create a more effective and comprehensive surgical guidance system.
